ABOUT ABOUT

Are you looking to get into the Valentine's Day spirit?

Then come to the Wool Ballrooms @ The Busch Student Center and enjoy SLU ISA's FIRST ever benefit concert, "Share the Love", featuring the world's first premier South Asian A Cappella group Penn Masala , Chai-Town A Cappella from the University of Illinois, and SLU's very own Astha A Cappella!

Penn Masala is a South Asian a cappella group composed and run entirely by University of Pennsylvania students. The group focuses on creating a fusion between Indian and Western sounds. In the past Penn Masala has performed to audiences of all ages ranging in size from 100 to 10,000 at venues spanning from London to New York to Mumbai.

To get a sample of their music, check out their website below:

Astha a cappella is Saint Louis University’s premier co-ed, fusion a cappella group. Established in 2006, the group was started by six students who came together to sing Indian fusion music, hang out, and jam. Astha has grown from jam-sessions to complex compositions, from a variety of backgrounds, all with an interest in singing a mixture of melodies that combines Western and Eastern musical influences.

Chai Town A Cappella is UIUC's premier South Asian A Cappella group. For the past decade they have brewed cups of music that were “Good to the Last Drop” and have left their fans saying “Aaaah … Arohanam”; Yet, overtime, the scent from this Champaign brew emanated throughout the nation as people began to crave the taste of South Asian a cappella. From California to the Big Apple, audiences have tasted their famous blend of contemporary music with a hint of flavors from the homeland. With new arrangements and singers, their "Fresh Brewed" flavor will never cease to entertain you.

ALL proceeds from the concert will go to Manav Sadhna, an NGO based in the Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad dedicated to the upliftment of the unprivileged through love. You can learn more about the charity on their website listed below:
